Bahraini man who kidnapped Indian girl claims he was only trying to help!

Manama : The main suspect in the abduction of an Indian girl last Tuesday in Hoora claimed that he was trying to help the five-year-old girl find her parents.

The 38-year-old Bahraini man reportedly drove off the car while the girl, Sarah, was sitting in the back seat. It happened when her mother went to a cold store in Hoora.

Research and Investigation Division Head in the Capital Governorate Police Directorate Major Mohammed Al Buainain said, “The accused said he was walking in the area when he saw the girl crying alone inside the vehicle. He claimed that he had driven the car to find the girl’s parents.”

“A police team found the abandoned car in Hoora at 4am, around six hours after receiving the mother’s complaint. Further investigations led to the suspect’s arrest,” he said.

“When we arrested him from his house, the girl wasn’t with him. He told us that he had kept the girl in an apartment in Hoora. Later police went there and found the girl, who was crying, with an Asian woman,” Al Buainain explained, without revealing the nationality of the 37-year-old woman.

“It was the happiest moment for the directorate’s staff when the girl was reunited with her mother. We interrogated the suspects before referring them to the Public Prosecution,” Maj. Al Buainain added.

DT News had reported earlier that Sarah was found after a nationwide search, which resulted in the detection of the kidnapper and his apparent aide.

The prosecution also announced that the victim had been examined by a coroner to determine if she was physically assaulted. “The girl is yet to be interrogated,” the prosecution added.
