Farewell to Bahrain Summer Festival
Manama : The month-long colourful and refreshing events were feast for the eyes. When the Bahrain Summer Festival concluded here yesterday, it left behind memories of another summer.
True to its theme, “Bahrain Summer Your Destination,” the festival attracted more than 80,000 people, who flocked to Cultural hall as well as Nakhool Tent at the Bahrain National Museum.
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) held the closing ceremony of the festival in the presence of President of BACA Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, diplomats, sponsors, members of the culture community and the festival mascots Nakhool and Nakhoola.
The Nakhool Tent will remain open to families and children today from 16pm to 9pm.
Speaking on the occasion, Shaikha Mai said: “The Bahrain Summer Festival is a season of integrating all cultural sites with landmarks and museums all over Bahrain.”
The festival is part of the strategic initiative by BACA to Boost Bahrain’s position as a regional cultural tourism hub.
Shaikha Mai extended thanks to all the sponsors of the festival, embassies, companies and media institutions.
The valedictory ceremony commenced with a performance from the Bahrain Police Music Band Division, followed by honouring embassies and volunteers that participated in the festival.
A performance by Mohammed bin Faris Music Band was held. The winner of Nakhool Superstar was also honoured.
