PM orders swift revamp of Bahrain school

Manama: Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday directed to complete the maintenance works of Sanabis Primary Girls’ School on a war-footing.
This was in response to a plea made earlier by the residents there to improve the conditions of the school building infested with rodents.
While paying a visit to the village in the Capital Governorate, the Prime Minister also instructed authorities to build a new school in the village.
The Premier said this while personally inspecting the Sanabis Primary Girls’ School to review the progress of the works.
While being briefed about the quality of the services provided to the citizens in Sanabis, the Premier directed officials to acquire enough land to improve the quality of government facilities there.
“The ultimate goal of the government is to provide best quality services to the citizens,” the PM said.
The Education Ministry had earlier ordered to lock down Sanabis Primary School, citing safety issues. The decision was later reversed by the Prime Minister after listening to the grievances of the residents.

How it all began
“Hazardous and not fit for studying” was how a special committee formed by Education Ministry described the buildings of the school earlier.
The ministry had then decided to shut down the school and transferred teachers and students there to a boys’ school in the village.
Orders were also issued to redeploy the faculties and students of the boys’ school to other schools in the neighbouring villages.
However, the decision raised a few eyebrows. The parents, students and teachers rejected the decision in unison, terming it as inadequate.
“The Ministry solved an issue by creating a bigger one,” they said.
Two weeks later, Prince Khalifa intervened and instead directed the authorities to revamp the building. This saved the students from the burden of studying in distant
schools.
