Shaikh Isa and Shaikh Hamad causeways back on track

ManamaIn a massive facelift plan, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has reviewed a project to develop the area between the Shaikh Isa and the Shaikh Hamad causeways into a recreational facility and a tourist resort.

HRH Premier also tasked the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure to study the facility’s designs and implementation time frame. “The development of all regions across the Kingdom in a comprehensive and balanced way tops the government’s priorities,” Prince Khalifa remarked during his visit to the area between the Shaikh Isa and the Shaikh Hamad causeways in Muharraq yesterday.

HRH Premier directed to develop the area and rehabilitate it to be a recreational destination for family tourism. “The project should include facilities for visitors to unwind themselves. They must be able to enjoy their hobbies. It should also reflect the aesthetic aspects of the Muharraq Governorate,” he instructed.

Meanwhile, HRH the Prime Minister agreed to extend the period prescribed for fishermen to remove their cabins by an extra month provided that their cabins do not obstruct the revamp works in the area. The Premier also met citizens and fishermen, who informed him about their grievances.

“The ultimate goal is to improve the living conditions of the citizens, and enhance the services provided for them,” the Premier explained.

While inspecting development projects in Muharraq, HRH Premier reiterated his constant keenness on following up all sectors closely and collecting first-hand information about them, especially the infrastructure projects.

The Premier was briefed by the Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, on the government’s plan to implement the Premier’s directives to revamp the area.
