Manama--
A person who forged a medical prescription to obtain morphine from a medical store had his one-year-jail sentence upheld.
The accused reportedly went to Jidhafs Health Center and requested the doctor to issue to him morhpine as “he was suffering from acute headache.”
However, when the doctor refused, he himself added morphine to the medical prescription the doctor gave him. It may be noted, morphine cannot be purchased without a prescription.
Although the accused tried to defend himself arguing that he was an epileptic patient, the court wasn’t convinced.
“I was suffering from epilepsy due to which, I had acute headache and cramps.
When I requested the doctor to add morphine in the prescription, he thought I was joking refused to do it.
“I couldn’t bear the headache and so, I decided to forge the prescription. I badly wanted some relief from the pain,” he told the court.
However, the court held him guilty on grounds of forgery.
According to police records, he had been involved in many criminal cases including an attempt to commit suicide, apart from forging prescription for the same purpose.
