Bahraini suspect remanded over foreign woman's death

Manama : A Bahraini has been remanded for seven days in prison in connection with the death of a 30-year-old woman, said Southern Governorate Prosecution Advocate General Mehanna Al Shaiji.

The Public Prosecution charged the suspect with hiding a corpse without informing the authorities and with using drugs.

The Public Prosecution issued an arrest warrant to apprehend the 39-year-old man, based on results of the inquiry that led to his identification.

"The investigation was launched promptly following a notification reporting the missing woman on August 3", Al-Mehanna said.

The suspect confessed to using drugs in his house, in the company of the woman, who passed away, and to burying her in a remote area, indicating to the authorities the whereabouts.

Based on the confessions, the Public Prosecution first inspected the crime scene and exhumed the body before checking the suspect's house.

The Public Prosecution commissioned the coroner to conduct a post mortem on the body, questioned the suspect and all other parties related to the case and demanded the technical report. The inquiry is underway.
