Sitra Sewage Water Conveyance System Project in full swing

ManamaThe implementation of Sitra Sewage Water Conveyance System Project is in progress, said Sanitary Engineering Planning and Projects Director of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Nazha Abo Hindi yesterday.

The project is being implemented as per the directives from the Water Resources Council to make utmost usage of treated water.

Abo Hindi explained that the project would contribute to achieving the policies and strategies generated by the Water Resources Council, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. Treated water in Bahrain is used for various purposes such as irrigation and green spaces, which eventually contributes to preserving water resources. The BD1,538,025-project was awarded to Down Town.

Director Abo Hindi said the increasing demand for treated water for landscaping purposes exceeds the available amount of water currently. “It has led the ministry to opt for tri-treated water from other plants such as North Sitra Treatment Plant, which is producing 12,000m3 of treated water daily. It is hoped that the treated water will serve certain locations in Manama along main highways,” the official added.
