Bahrain at Rio de Janeiro
Manama : Bahrain’s triumph at Rio through Eunice Kirwa’s silver in women’s marathon is an absolute pleasure and a matter great pride for the whole nation, as it is also the Kingdom’s only second medal in any sport.
Kirwa took silver, 9 sec adrift of Jemima Sumgong, the winner, while defending world champion Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia claimed bronze, at 26sec.
But Bahrain’s quest at Rio doesn’t end here. It has just begun, with more Bahraini athletes are still scheduled to take part in various events.
Their performances are expected to surpass the Kingdom’s previous sporting achievements.
