Kidnappers 'chase' woman and baby in Bahrain

ManamaA woman and her 18-month-old daughter were reportedly chased by two men on Saturday night as they were returning home after shopping.

According to the woman, the stalkers followed her to her building premises in Sanabis in a white pick-up truck. The truck apparently had foreign number plates.

Speaking to DT News, under the condition of anonymity, she explained that she was left devastated by the incident.

“When I first saw them following my car I thought they might be just some odd youngsters and that they would leave me alone once they saw that I had a daughter,” she said, “But I panicked when I saw that they were still behind me when I reached my locality.”

The woman hinted that the men were intending to kidnapping her daughter.

“I got out of the car and rushed towards my home. When I dropped my handbag and phone, they did not pick it up. They could have easily taken it, but they were fixated on my daughter and was only looking at her,” she said.

“I started screaming when I saw that the men were still rushing towards us,” she said. “However they stopped chasing and drove away when another car entered the parking lot,” she added.

She said the whole incident was captured in a surveillance camera.

“The angle at which surveillance camera captured the footage was not very good, so we could not get much details out of it. The number plate had the letter ‘V’ and some numbers written in English. From what I could tell, it was a foreign number plate,” she said.

“I never expected something like this to happen to me, especially here in a country like Bahrain,” she added.

She had also shared her ordeal on a popular Bahraini Facebook page. The post received huge attention and it was widely shared and commented on.

“…Please be extra careful and keep your kids by your side at all times. Always have the authorities’ number ready on your phone or someone you know who can help,” she appealed to other social media users at the end of her post.
