Bahraini lawyer in the dock for spreading false news
Manama : A Bahraini lawyer accused of spreading false information in connection with a detainee’s death at the Dry Dock has been taken into custody. He was later released on the guarantee of his residence.
The lawyer reportedly told a local newspaper on August 11 that there were injuries and bruises on the body of the deceased which proves beyond doubt a criminal suspicion. This, however, contradicted a statement made by SIU earlier confirming that the death was due to natural causes.
“Based on which, the public prosecution has launched an investigation into the incident, said Northern Governorate’s Chief Prosecutor Adnan Fakhro.
When questioned by the Public Prosecution, the lawyer confessed that his claims were based on other people’s opinion and he failed to confirm its authenticity.
