Bahraini-Pakistani business ties discussed

Manama : Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)'s First Vice Chairman Khalid Alzayani alongside the chamber's board members and acting CEO recently received the Pakistani Ambassador to Bahrain, Javed Malik.

The meeting reviewed the deep-rooted relation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the prospect of taking the business ties to further heights.

Alzayani deliberated about the business and investment environment in Bahrain and the interest in enhancing trade and partnership with Pakistan, particularly in light of the numerous opportunities and the keenness of the wise leadership of both countries. 

He mentioned the successful Bahraini-Sudanese agricultural project "Khairat Al-Bahrain" whereas Sudan granted Bahrain a 42,000 hectares land to invest in farming and animal husbandry projects, and deliberated about the prospect of replicating the experience in Pakistan.

From his side, ambassador Malik deliberated about the strenuous strides taken by the Pakistani government to invigorate its economy and enhance its openness to the world. The Pakistani government strategy includes a number of major projects key among which the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is a collection of projects intended to rapidly expand and upgrade the Pakistani infrastructure and deepen and broaden economic links between Pakistan and the People's Republic of China. 

The ambassador further elaborated "The project includes a sea port linking Pakistan and China, at the same time offering the Gulf States a more efficient route to the Pakistani and Chinese markets". He also sought the cooperation of the chamber in organizing the Bahraini-Pakistani business conference to be hosted by the Pakistani embassy in Bahrain on September 27 and called the local private sector to take part in the event and meet with their counterparts from Pakistan.

Concluding the meeting, the vice-treasurer and head of the BCCI's Bahrain Asian Traders Committee (BATC) Mohamed Sajid extended an invitation to the ambassador and the Pakistani business owners to attend the conference the committee plans to hold on September 28 titled "Re-invest in Bahrain", a conference that mainly aims to encourage current business owners and entrepreneurs to expand their businesses in Bahrain and venture a wider range of sectors.
