Witnesses to testify in arson case
Manama : The prosecution witnesses will take the stand on September 28 to testify in the trial of seven men accused of arson.
The seven Bahrainis are said to have torched four tyres in Tubli. Six of the defendants have been arrested, while one of them is still at large and is being tried in absentia.
The defendants have been indicted of arson, putting lives and properties at risk, participating in an illegal gathering and sabotaging.
The first defendant has already confessed to the accusations against him, according to court files.
“The fifth defendant informed me about the plan to riot, following which he revealed the time and the location. After reaching the spot, I saw 10 people and learnt that they were planning to set tyres on fire,” he recalled.
“I carried the tyres and put them on the street, while the second defendant poured petrol. It was the fifth defendant, who set them on fire,” he revealed.
