Multitalented expat bids farewell to Bahrain

ManamaAfter having spent nearly 17 years of meritorious service in various fields in Bahrain, Indian expat Jiju Verghese is returning to his home country along with his family today.

Having come to the Kingdom to work with Arthur Anderson Consulting as a Business Consultant - EPR specialist, he was the IT manager of Bahrain Flour Mills Co for the past 16 years. 

Jiju, who is the founder General Secretary of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) – Bahrain, spearheaded various committees for different projects related to church activities here. 

Referring to his association with YMCA, he said: “As part of various panels, I worked with a focus on ‘Building stronger kids, stronger families, stronger communities’ – the motto of our association.”

Jiju has been active in public speaking and was winner of various awards at the Toastmasters conventions at area, division and district levels. He hosted six seasons of quiz shows at the Indian radio channel (104.2 FM) in Bahrain. 

He also boasts of the rare honour of being the first multi lingual radio jockey in the first and only Indian radio station in the Kingdom. 

“I have been doing shows on the radio since 2006. I have conducted a variety of shows ranging from talk shows, caller in shows, debates, music shows, quiz and many other types of programmes on the radio,” he recalled. 

Jiju even had the privilege of hosting major musical concerts on the Island for charitable purposes. 

“I had often been invited to speak at motivational seminars being held by various companies, labour camps, schools and other places.”

Jiju is also talented recording artist, giving voice for major brands for multi-national companies, products and services. 

His wife Seena, who is a lawyer by profession, is a homemaker. Their daughter Rebecca has been studying in Grade 8 at the Indian School Bahrain. 

Jiju was given a farewell at YMCA – Bahrain in a meeting chaired by YMCA president Soman Baby.
