Bahrain participates in symposium on health cities

Bahrain's experience in government-private sector partnership in the field of reinforcing health sector was reviewed at the first Gulf Symposium on healthy cities, held in Muscat under the patronage of Oman's Health Minister Ahmed bin Mohammad Al-Saidi.
GCC leading experiences in the field of health cities and community partnership were tackled with the participation of representatives from the GCC health ministries.
Head of Health Promotion Department Dr. Amel Al-Jowdar, and Capital Council member Iman Al-Qahtani represented Bahrain in the GCC symposium, which came in implementation of GCC health ministers' coordination meeting held last January in Geneva, on health cities initiative.
Ten paper works presented in the symposium that included five sessions.
The participants reached a number of recommendations, including the prevention of the outbreak of non-communicable diseases, establishment of a GCC committee on health cities, holding regular meetings, focusing on uplifting skills and capacity building of national workers in health cities programmes.
The symposium's recommendations and outcomes will be submitted at the next GCC Health Ministers' Council meeting for approval.
