Batelco, Forever clash end in stalemate

Batelco Gunners United and Forever played out a 0-0 draw in the first
leg quarter final of the football competition in the first Nasser bin
Hamad and the eighth edition of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games
(Nasser 8) late Saturday night at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.
Neither side could break the stalemate which saw former Mali
international and 2008 African Player of the Year Oumar Kanoute debut
for the Gunners.
The two sides meet again on Wednesday to determine who goes through to
the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, in the handball competition Al Diyar defeated the Bahrain
National Youth Team (B) 26-24 in a Group A match at the Bahrain
Handball Association in Umm Al Hassam and it concludes tomorrow.
The Games are being patronised by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa,
Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth
Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and
President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Two other sports are set to get underway with Basketball at the
Bahrain Basketball Association in Umm Al Hassam from Thursday until
July 1, while the volleyball is at the Bahrain Volleyball Association
in Isa Town from from Wednesday until June 30.
