Bahrain bag 14 medals on 3rd day
Manama : Bahrain’s junior national team, under the auspices of the Bahrain Swimming Association (BSA), picked up 14 more medals on the third and penultimate day of the 26th GCC Water Games in Dammam.
These include three gold, four silver and seven bronze medals. The three gold medals were won by Ali Sadiq Alawi in the 11-12 years 200 metres individual medley, Sanad Abdulla in the 13-14 years 200m backstroke and Ali Daraj in the 11-12 years 100m breaststroke.
The four silver medals were won by Ali Daraj in the 11-12 years freestyle, the quartet of Ali Alawi, Khalid Jaber, Ali Daraj and Ahmed Abdulnabi in the 11-12 years 4x100 freestyle, Abdulraham Mubarak in the 13-14 years 100 metres butterfly and the quartet of Abdulla Isa, Abdulraham Mubarak, Sanad Abdulla and Abdulla Khalid in 4x100 metres.
Seven bronze medals were clinched in the 11-12 years category by Ahmed Abdulnabi (200 metres individual medley), Khalid Jaber (100 metres butterfly), Khalid Jaber (50 metres butterfly), Saud Saleh (100 metres breaststroke); in the 13-14 years category by Abdulla Isa (50 metres butterfly and 200 metres individual medley) and in the 15-17 years category by Abdulaziz Daraj (800 metres freestyle).
Prior to the Saudi meet, the team had an extensive training camp last month in Bucharest, Romania and its delegation is headed by BSA General Secretary Faisal Abdulwahab, BSA technical committee Chairman Tariq Juma, team manager Sameer Ibrahim, first coach of the national team Alexander Carbloa, coach Dhafer Buzaid and Thaen Al Amer as well as judges Ahmed Khalaf and Jamal Rashid.
