Drug peddler spared heavy jail term for helping cops

A drug peddler was spared of a heavy jail term after the High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced to him to six months behind bars, as he had helped police nab a drug dealer.

The 29-year-old accused's was also charged with selling illegal drugs.

The other drug peddler was also held guilty in connection with the same case and the judges at the High Criminal Court sentenced him to five years in jail.

The 29-year-old was lured into selling shabu for BD100 by an undercover police officer and he was arrested soon after the transaction.

The accused, however, told police he was receiving drugs from another man and offered to help them capture him red-handed.

He contacted his co-accused in front of police officers to buy drugs from him. When the latter arrived with drugs, police nabbed him too.

Both of them also failed saliva drug test conducted on them.

The 29-year-old was fined BD100, while his co-accused was find BD3000.
