Al Wefaq hearing tomorrow
Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court will hear the appeal lodged by Al Wefaq Islamic Society tomorrow against its liquidation for breaching the local society laws.
The court is yet to respond to the request by the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments to accelerate the hearing.
The High Civil Court ordered in July for the liquidation of the society into the state’s treasury after being found guilty of breaching the political society laws and supporting terrorist groups.
The case was filed by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa.
The High Civil Court, in its ruling said that the society repeatedly objected the legitimacy of Bahrain’s constitution, supported violent action and posted pictures of terrorists. Al Wefaq society objected the legitimacy of the legislative branch and constantly exploited places of worship to carry out its political activities, according to the court.
