Boy succumbs to injuries after being hit by vehicle

Manama : A boy who was hit by a car while cycling in Jidhafs a few days ago succumbed to his wounds on Sunday night.

The body of 11-year-old Jaffar Al Zaymoor was buried in Al Lawza Graveyard at his hometown Jidhafs yesterday.

The boy was hit by a car driven by a Bahraini woman while he was cycling on Budaiya Highway on Saturday. The incident occurred at the intersection between Jidhafs and Daih villages.

The 11-year-old was apparently cycling back to Jidhafs from Daih when the vehicle hit him. He sustained severe injuries and was taken to Salmaniya Medica Complex (SMC) Accident and Emergency Department by ambulance.

Sources confirmed that the woman, who was driving towards Manama, was caught unawares when the boy suddenly crossed the road in front of her, leaving her no time to stop. The broken street lights at the intersection were believed to be one of the causes of the mishap.

Family members announced that condolences could be offered today and tomorrow for men at Haj Abdulhussain bin Jaafar Matam (community and religious centre) and for women in Al Kamil Matam in Jidhafs.
