Safra clinches Futsal League title
Manama : Safra Youth Centre won the Fourth Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centres Futsal League which concluded last night at Sports Federation Hall in Isa Sports City.
Safra clinched the title against defending champions Zallaq in a 2-1 penalty shootout thanks to goalkeeper Hamad Dasas who made two saves after the match was tied at 1-1 in normal time. Mohammed Abdullah scored for the new champions and Rashid Bakhit Al Dossari for Zallaq.
In the third place match, Abu Saiba came from a goal down after the first half, to defeat Al Shakhoora 4-1 after the latter took the lead through Ahmed Abdulrasool before the break. Abu Saiba bounced back in emphatic fashion with goals from Sayed Hassan Sayed Maki, Hussain Al Ma’lik, Jaffar Bannai and Syed Fadhil Al Muhafidha.
The Deaf team also won the First Khalid bin Hamad People with Disabilities League.The team ran out a easy win by 6-0 against Harakia Society in the Disabilities League thanks to five goals by Akbar Salman and the other from Yousif Al Alawi.
First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Athletic Association HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, presented trophies and medals to the teams in the presence of Hisham bin Mohamed Al Jowder, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, sponsors and sport association heads.
He congratulated Safra Youth Centre and the Deaf team and also praised the performance of the players in all the finals held. Shaikh Khalid also appreciated the sportsmanship and thanked the spectators and sponsors for their support
The tournament featured 38 teams in the two competitions and played under the slogan #meetingofgenerations and organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs which started on August 8.
