Zahra Mahfoodh wins bronze

ManamaBahrain national team weightlifter Zahra Mahfoodh won bronze against an opponent from Uzbekistan and UAE in the women’s competition in the  Afro-Asian Weightlifting Championship in Amman.

A total of three silver and six bronze medals were won by the Bahrainis in the women’s category.

President of the Bahrain Weightlifting Association, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Khalifa congratulated the achievement and the Bahraini delegation on the achievement.

Around 35 African and Asian countries are in the fray which concludes tomorrow, with competitions ranging from 48 to 75kg for the women and from 56to 105kg for men.

Bahrain team members include Hussein Ali (junior category), Hamad Khalid (junior, youth and adults) and veteran Yousuf Shirawi(youth and adults) They are coached by Redha Matouq. Sarah Ateeq and Zahra Mahfoodh are the women’s competitors. The delegation is headed by Bahrain Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation director Hussain Issa Hayki and administration director Ali Abdullah.
