Russian lady’s death: Suspect hide in apartment

Manama : The Bahraini man, who allegedly buried the dead body of a Russian woman in a ground, was hiding in an apartment in Manama, according to police.

Though the suspect had agreed to report to the police station, he did not show up. So police officers went to his house. But he was not there. Later the police traced him to an apartment in Manama and arrested him. 

When questioned, he admitted to burying the woman’s body in a ground near Askar. 

However, the authorities have not revealed the cause of her death. But the suspect told police that she had consumed overdose of drugs. 

According to the accused, both of them consumed drugs and went to sleep. “When I woke up I found her dead.”   

The 30-year-old woman went missing during the last week of July from her apartment in Juffair. 

Her boyfriend filed a case at the Nabi Saleh Police station on August 3. 

“We checked all the phone records of the missing woman and identified the suspect. When we asked him to report to the police station he agreed to do so but did not turn up,” Research and Investigation Division Head at the Directorate Major Mohammed Khalid Albuainain told Interior Ministry’s Publication Al Amn. “The boyfriend said that she had left her apartment to meet a man, but did not return.” 

The suspect’s phone was later found switched off but the police managed to track him down at an apartment in Manama. 

“He initially denied any knowledge of the woman’s disappearance. But later he admitted that he along with her had consumed drugs at a house in Isa Town,” he said. 

“He claimed that he was too scared as to what would happen to him. So he wrapped the body in bed sheets and took it in his car to open grounds behind the Alba Industrial area,” Albuainain said. 

“Her remains were exhumed and sent for examinations. The suspect was referred to Public Prosecution,” he added.
