Two men get life term in attempting to kill cops
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced two men to life in prison for attempting to murder two police officers in Sitra and planting a fake explosive device.
According to the case, the duo alongside other unknown men allegedly plotted to kill police officers, and carried out a riot in the area to draw the attention of the police officers.
They also planted a fake bomb and burned tyres. When the police officers arrived at the scene, the first defendant, who was hiding behind a concrete barrier, fired shots at them. However, nobody was injured. Later police officers found three bullet caps at the scene.
After examining them, it was found that one of the suspects (the first defendant), who were already caught in 2015 in possession of a gun, had used the same calibre of the caps.
He was nabbed along with the second defendant. Both of them admitted to participating in the riot.
