Shifa Al Jazeera honours Sindhu

HyderabadRio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu was honoured by the GCC based Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group with gold medal for her stupendous performance at the Rio Olympics. At function held at Gopichand Nimmagadda Prasad Badminton Academy at Hyderabad where super girl of India was awarded with 10 sovereigns worth of gold and certificate. 

KP Mohammed Kutty, Consultative Committee Chairman of Shifa Medical Group gave away the award to PV Sindhu on the behalf of Medical Group Chairman Dr. KT Rabeeulla. 

Sindhu’s father Ramana, a former national volleyball player and Arjuna awardee, KPM Zakkir, and Ashraf Vengat both from Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group, dignitaries from the Gopichand Academy were attended at the function. 

While expressing her gratitude to Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group for encouraging sportspersons, Sindhu said she was receiving the honour for the entire expat community. 

P.V. Sindhu and Sakshi Malik, India’s heroines, who did their nation proud by winning Olympic silver and bronze in badminton and wrestling respectively at Rio Olympics. Under the guidance of chief coach Gopichand, Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal. 

Sakshi Malik, who pulled off a sensational 8-5 victory to clinch the bronze in 58-kg category at Rio, also will be given 10 sovereigns worth of gold next week at a function in Haryana, the group said in a press release.
