Firm officials in the dock over employee’s death

ManamaProsecutionwitnesses in the trial of three defendants accused in connection with the death of an Asian man will be heard on October 17. The incident occurred in the victim’s workplace on Hawar Islands. 

According to the case, the man sustained burn injuries while he was sanding a pipe using a saw machine as sparks from his operation hit a tank containing highly flammable material on a ship. Later, he succumbed to his injuries. 

It was found that a contractor was assigned to handle the maintenance work, but he handed over the work to another contractor after signing a subcontract. 

The workplace also lacked safety measures. The trio accused in this case include three senior  officials serving in the company of the deceased. They have been charged with failing to set up a work environment abide by the required safety standards, violating the safety and health regulations and failing to provide safety training to the employees.
