ManamaTwo of the top rated universities in Bahrain have recorded huge success at the global level by claiming impressive ranks in the top 100  list of Arabian universities.

Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has been ranked 26th and University of Bahrain(UoB) 33rd in the top 100 list by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Universities annual rankings.

Globally, AGU came 461 and UoB 701. The full 2016-17 rankings published by QS includes 916 universities from all over the world.

King Fahd University

Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals was the top university in the Arab region, according to the rankings. Globally, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was ranked first, Stanford University and Harvard University  came second and third respectively.

The QS World University rankings are designed to help prospective students make informed comparisons of leading universities around the world.

Based on six performance indicators, the ranking assesses university performance across four areas: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation.

“Academic reputation is measured using a global survey, in which academics are asked to identify the institutions where they believe the best work is currently taking place within their own field of expertise.

“The aim is to give prospective students a sense of the consensus of opinion within the international academic community. For the 2016/17 edition, a total of 74,651 academics contributed. Regional weightings are applied to counter any discrepancies in response rates.”  Quacquarelli Symonds stated.
