UNDP adopts Bahrain’s Country Programme Document
New York : The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Executive Board adopted the Country Programme Document for the Kingdom of Bahrain for 2017-2020, during its annual session held here.
The document was presented by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
He highlighted the efforts made by Bahrain in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme office, to gain access to projects that conform with the government’s work plan for 2015- 2018 and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
The projects are implemented through the Coordinating Committee headed by the Foreign Ministry and the membership of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the First Deputy Premier Office and the UNDP.
Shaikh Abdulla presented a list of major initiatives in cooperation with the UNDP, stressing that the projects to be implemented within the country work programme come across two main frameworks to achieve economic diversification and sustainable social services, as well as support institutions to achieve international standards in the performance and application of the service.
Shaikh Abdulla praised the constructive role of the UNDP in the Kingdom through its advice and technical support for development projects.
The Executive Board at the end of the meeting extended its thanks to Bahrain for its efforts in the process of preparation of the country work programme for 2017-2020.
