Dr. Varghese Kurian receives Mahatma Gandhi Award 2016
Manama : Bahrain-based Al Namal & VKL Group Chairman Varghese Kurian was presented with “Mahatma Gandhi Award 2016” by Tushar Gandhi (great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi) on Monday.
Prof. P. J. Kurien, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and Anto Antony, Member of Parliament, also attended the event organised by Mannar Mahatma Gandhi Boat Race festival at Mannar in Alappuzha District, Kerala.
Nadubhagam Chundan won the 52nd Mahatma Gandhi boat race held in the River Pampa in Mannar. Prof. Kurien inaugurated the event at a function at the Kuryathu Kadavu.
Navneet Kaur, Indian actress and model, was the guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony.
N. Shylaj, organising committee general convener; Mannar Abdul Latheef, KPCC secretary and Satheesh Kochuparambil, addressed the function.
