Man buries woman after she dies of drug overdose
Manama : A Russian woman, who had been missing for 12 days, apparently died due to an accidental drug overdose and was buried by a Bahraini man.
The Bahraini, in his thirties, allegedly buried the woman in a bid to conceal her death, the High Criminal Court yesterday heard.
The defendant was questioned by the police on the disappearance of the woman after she was spotted with him just before she went missing.
He also confessed to inviting her to his house, where they consumed drugs and had sex.
“I met her at a hotel, and I invited her to my house. We took drugs and had sex,” the man told prosecutors during the interrogation.
“She continued taking drugs even after I slept, and when I woke up I found her motionless,” he added.
Puzzled, the man took the Russian woman’s body and buried her in Sakhir area.
He then guided the search teams to her corpse. The woman’s body was found decomposed and her scalp was detached from her head.
The defendant pleaded not guilty before the High Criminal Court. However, his detention was extended by 15 days.
