Thieves steal gold from expat’s home in a jiffy

Manama: In the wink of an eye-- the robbery that occurred in an expatriate’s apartment here on Sunday can be described like this. Moreover, the deft thieves stole gold jewellery from the drawers without creating a mess in the room.

According to the house owner, Yogesh, the daylight burglary took place when he had gone for work.

“My wife was at home and she was out for less than 10 minutes. Within the short time, the thieves managed to sneak into the house despite the front door was locked,” he said.

“It is extremely strange, she was out only for a few minutes. We don’t know how they got in. When she came back, there was no trace of burglary. But later when she went into our room, she noticed that the cupboard was left open. She immediately checked the drawers and found the gold missing,” Yogesh told DT News.

“The window in the kitchen was left open. They might have entered through the window. But it’s still astonishing that they were able to use this window to get in since a tall ladder is required to climb up,” he said.

The robbery took place in a busy area in the city. Yogesh said the thieves might have watched the movements of his wife for an opportunity to enter the house.

Police officers arrived at the scene and inspected the apartment.

Investigation is going on.
