Woman attacked by disabled son

Manama: ABahraini mother, in her sixties, jumped out her house window and suffered a broken leg in a bid to escape from her violent disabled son, the High Criminal Court heard yesterday.

She reportedly went to police station in a wheelchair to file a case against him. According to the case, the jobless 28-year-old defendant allegedly assaulted his mother and dragged her by her hair. He also held her captive and denied her calling her other sons. Later, she jumped out the window.

“I was sitting in the living room when he approached me and asked for money. When I told him that I didn’t have money, he screamed at me and dragged me by my hair. He held me captive and locked the entrance of the house,” the woman told prosecutors.

The 28-year-old man is already implicated in drug, physically assault, damaging property and misusing phone cases.

His trial was adjourned until September 21 and his lawyer was fined BD100 for failing to attend yesterday’s hearing.
