Low salary is No. 1 stress factor in Bahrain
Manama: Low salary is the main contributing factor to stress at workplace, according to a survey poll conducted by Bayt.com, one of the largest job sites in the region.
The study, which was participated by residents in Bahrain, the UAE, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Tunisia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen, was conducted from June 26 to August 2.
About 40 per cent of the respondents reported that financial situation is their number one stress factor; a lack of job security (12.3pc), the workplace environment (9.7pc) and not having a work-life balance (9.1pc) were cited as other stress factors.
About 52pc agree that workplaces are more stressful these days than they were a few years back, while 77.4pc believe that they could do a much better job if they were given more time and 36.5pc of respondents are very concerned that they may lose their jobs soon.
“Work-related stress can be caused by poor work organisation, poor work design, unsatisfactory working conditions, low salaries, and lack of support from colleagues and managers,” said Suhail Masri, Vice President of Employer Solutions at Bayt.com. “At Bayt.com, not only do we provide a wealth of jobs and recruitment solutions to connect professionals looking for jobs and companies looking to hire, but we also empower people with access to live data on workplace trends across the MENA region,” he said.
