Investment forum on way to revive economy

ManamaIn a bid to encourage foreign investment in various sectors, the Bahrain Asian Traders Committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), headed by Vice - Treasurer Mohammad Sajid Izhar Ulhaq, will organise “Re-Invest in Bahrain forum” later this month.

It will be held under the patronage of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani, informed the organisers at a press conference on the BCCI premises in Sanabis yesterday.

Expatriate businessmen, Asian embassies in Bahrain, the Economic Development Board (EDB) and a number of Asian investors will attend the event.

According to Ulhaq, the forum is being organised to encourage investments in new sectors to revive the Bahraini economy, and create new Job opportunities. “We are expecting around 400 participants from the business community; foreigners as well as Bahrainis.”

“About 150 delegates will be from outside Bahrain. Top business communities from Pakistan and more than 100 entrepreneurs from the GCC region are expected to participate in the event. There are a lot of foreigners in other countries who do not enjoy this level of freedom such as the 100pc ownership. They are looking for opportunities, so the Bahrain-Asian committee is taking the initiative to invite them and guide them,” he said.

“I believe there is a lot of potential for them. They will create numerous jobs for Bahrainis. This will be a first-of-its-kind event happening in Bahrain,” Ulhaq added.

The Bahrain Asian Traders Committee has invited all traders, Asian entrepreneurs and members of the business community to attend the forum that will take place on September 26 at 12pm at Bait Al Tijjar in Sanabis.
