Bahrain best option in the region for investors: Official

Manama : The recent decision to allow foreign investors 100 per cent ownership in many sectors makes the Kingdom the best option in the region, said Mohammed Sajid Izhar Ulhaq, Chairman of the Bahrain Asian Traders Committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) yesterday.

He said Bahrain is the region’s most attractive destination for foreign investors. Ulhaq encouraged foreign investors to choose Bahrain for its ease of doing business and the freedom it offers to the businessmen. 

“We are encouraging foreign investors as well as Bahraini entrepreneurs to reinvest in Bahrain instead of going to other countries. There is no need to look for options outside. Now Bahrain is the best option,” he commented.

According to him, allowing foreigners 100pc ownership has added to one of the attractions of Bahrain. 

“The Cabinet approved 100pc ownership in some sectors, which are important. This move has been very effective. It translates into golden opportunities for investors. At a time when the region is affected by the oil price and the slow economy, it is an opportunity for us to diversify. The diversification will help develop businesses,” Ulhaq elaborated. 

“Bahrain’s economy is safe, it has not been impacted as much as some other economies have been. There has not been a situation where companies had to lay off a large number of employees. We appreciate the leadership of Bahrain for their vision and what they have been doing. It is our role now as the business community to work together with the government,” he added.
