Asian gets life for smuggling drugs

ManamaA Bangladeshi man accused of smuggling marijuana and narcotic pills into the Kingdom has been sentenced to life. He was also fined BD5,000. 

According to the case, the police found the drugs in a package that contained spare parts of motorbikes. It arrived from outside the Kingdom and was registered under the name of the accused.

The marijuana weighed three kilograms and had a value of around BD30,000. The police also recovered 505 pills from the package. Prosecutors said the defendant was trying to peddle the drugs in the country. 

The accused will be deported from Bahrain once he completes his jail term, which is equal to 25 years.
