U-19 team to take on Malaysia

ManamaBahrain’s national under-19 team are set to take on Malaysia as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under 19 Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier Division 2 gets underway in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

The 50-over qualifiers begins today and continue until October 6, with 10 teams in two groups in the fray on a round-robin basis.

Group A comprises hosts Malaysia and Singapore who face-off today at the Kinrara Oval at 4.30am Bahrain time, with the others being Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.  Matches in  Group B include UAE against Kuwait at Club Aman Oval, with the remaining teams being Hong Kong, Oman and Thailand. Semi-finals will be held on October 5, with the two winners playing off for the title on October 6.

The winners will be promoted to the Division 1 ICC Asia Qualifiers to be held in 2017 and the pathway to the 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup.

Bahrain team is  coached by Faustinus Branson Arulvasagam and captained by Mohammed Avais.
