Illegal cabins taken off from Salmabad
Manama
Illegal cabins built at Salmabad Housing Project in the Northern Governorate have been removed by the concerned authorities on Tuesday, it was announced.
Housing Ministry, in cooperation with the Northern Area Municipality and Interior Ministry removed a number of unlicensed metal cabins that were used as private car shades, as well as metal roads and chains used to fix them.
The Ministry announced that the removal procedures will continue during the upcoming days, while warnings will be posted to the remaining cabins to inform their owners to remove them.
It is said that the procedure comes as a result of repeated complaints received from residents about the violating cabins, which deprive them and their visitors of parking their vehicles. The structures harm the civilised view of the area, as they’re randomly scattered across the perimeter of the housing project.
Last year, the dissolved Central Area Municipality, which was previously responsible for the area, warned the violators of facing legal accountability in case they didn’t remove the cabins.
Back then, Housing Ministry’s Legal Affairs Department said that “privatising public parking spaces violate the terms mentioned in the leasing contract, which regulate the utilisation of parking spaces among the beneficiaries of housing units.”
The department added that it had previously distributed 600 notices among residents, urging them to remove illegal cabins, but they were all ignored.
