Hero’s welcome for Paralympian
Manama : BahrainOlympic Committee (BOC) hosted special celebration for appreciating Paralympian Fatima Abdulrazzaq Safar. She won gold medal for Bahrain in the shot put (F-53) category at recently-concluded 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Bahrain Table Tennis Association president, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and women’s sport committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa welcomed Fatima and Ruba Al Omari who finished seventh in the discus category at the Games.
Shaikha Hayat noted the significant efforts and contributions of the President of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa in the massive progress accomplished by Bahrain athletes with disabilities at regional and international competitions.
The ceremony concluded with Shaikha Hayat, along with regional Special Olympics President Shaikh Daij bin Khalifa Al Khaifa and Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, presenting the awards to both athletes.
