Labourer’s jail term upheld in stabbing case
Manama : The High Criminal Court upheld the sentence of six months in prison issued against a labourer convicted of physical assault. The defendant, aged 22, reportedly stabbed a roommate with a 15cm-long knife after he slept in his place in their accommodation in Sitra.
“I entered the room and I saw him (the victim) sleeping in my place. I tried to wake him up but he insulted me and my mother. He also kicked me,” the defendant told prosecutors.
There was a knife hidden in the defendant’s clothes and he grabbed it and penetrated into the victim’s lower abdomen, according to court files.
The victim was taken to hospital and he eventually survived.
