Expat maid gets jail for theft
Manama : The High Criminal Court sentenced an expat woman to six months in prison in connection with a theft case.
The 32-year-old Filipino maid was already jailed for allowing her boyfriend to enter the house of her sponsor, and has been again convicted of stealing valuables from the same house.
The woman reportedly stole a Bottega Veneta handbag worth almost BD700, and two Hugo Boss T-shirts, totally valued at BD140. Apart from this, the defendant is also said to have stolen BD60.
She initially claimed that she had received the handbag as a gift from her friend, who was also serving as a maid in a house near her sponsor’s house.
