Mother pleads to help her daughter

ManamaAn ailing Bahraini mother here is seeking the help of government just to see her daughter, who has been forced to stay away from her due to visa issues.

Samia Shaikh, the eldest daughter of the family of Indian origin, is currently living with her husband, in Saudi Arabia, who is also an Indian.

According to the family members, Samia is unable to visit her mother because of certain visa issues. She is also the only  member in their family without Bahraini citizenship.

Though several pleas have been made in this regard the Nationality, Passport & Residence Affairs (NPRA) is yet to respond to the issue, the family claimed.

Speaking to DT News, Maria Shaikh, one of Samia’s sisters, said, “My elder sister is unable to visit us due to visa issues.”

Maria also revealed that the unfortunate events had pushed their mother into a constant state of
depression. “My siblings and myself have classes to attend and hence there is no one to help our mother,” she said.

“We expect her health to improve once my sister reaches home. I hope the government will look into this issues soon,” she said.

Samia’s father Shaikh Haneef, who died from cardiac arrest in 2014, was unable to procure citizenship for Samia though all her  younger siblings received it in 2013. Samia’s mother also received the same in 2013.

Shaikh Haneef worked in the Kingdom for 30 years. He was also an employee of the  Interior Ministry.
