Woman gets one year jail for embezzlement
Manama : The High Criminal Court sentenced a 32-year-old Bahraini woman to one year behind the bars for withdrawing money from the bank account of her deceased father.
The woman is said to have withdrawn BD7,500 from the account after the death of her father who was married to two women. This prompted her stepmother to file a case against her.
She claimed that the defendant’s act was an attempt to deny her and her children the father’s heritage.
She said that the deceased was holding three bank accounts, one of which had BD10,000. However, she revealed that she wasn’t aware of how much money was in the two other accounts.
The 32-year-old woman was charged with forgery and embezzlement.
