Private school in Bahrain violates law

Manama : In the light of what has been circulated in social media regarding the teaching of International school of Choueifat having its own book for social studies subject without obtaining approval from the Education Ministry.

A delegation from the ministry visited the school in question to examine the matter of the situation, it was found that the school was teaching a social studies book material in English for sudents in the 9th grade without taking approval through the appropriate procedures of the ministry.

The book also contained topics that conflict with Bahrain's general policies, which constitutes a clear breach of the provisions of Decree Law No. 25 of 1998 on private educational and training institutions.

Accordingly the Ministry has directed a formal warning to the school, requesting it to withdraw copies of the book immediately and present lists confirming the completion of the process. The school was also requested to provide an alternative book and seek the Ministry's official approval.

In addition, they are to provide an alternative book to teach students after obtaining an official approval on the book by the ministry, with the emphasis that the school should not repeat the offense so as not to face punitive measures stipulated in the decree law on educational and training insitutions.
