Bahrain’s human rights policy lauded

Brussels : The achievements of the Kingdom in terms of promotion and protection of human rights under the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin  Isa Al Khalifa was lauded by Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri.

He made the statement during his meeting with a number of officials of Foreign Affairs at the European Union on the sidelines of the ministerial conference on Afghanistan, held in Brussels.

Al Doseri reviewed with them ways to enhance cooperation in the exchange of experiences and on issues of common concern. He stressed the keenness of the Kingdom to strengthen the judiciary, human rights and independent regulatory institutions, so as to contribute to the upgrading of the social status of the people.

Al Doseri also called upon on foreign organisations to invest in the Kingdom. 

He affirmed that Bahrain’s organisations are known for its  transparency, credibility and respect for national sovereignty. 

“Any attempt to distort the national achievements in political reforms, economic development, human and urban development as well as human rights will be rejected, ” he stressed. 

Al Doseri met Dr Nicholas Westcott, Managing Director, Middle East and North Africa, European External Action Service; Stavros Lambrinidis, the European Union’s Special Representative for Human Rights at the European External Action Service and Perez Garcia, Head of the Human Rights Section.

The Assistant Foreign Minister also held meetings with Lotte Knudsen, Managing Director, Human Rights, Global and Multilateral Issues at European External Action Service and discussed various ways to enhance cooperation in the field of human rights, training and capacity building between Bahrain and the EU. He also called upon  promoting bilateral visits and relations. 

He also met with Rudy Huygelen, Director at the Belgian Cabinet of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
