Three clerics get prison for illegal gathering in Duraz
Manama : The Lower Criminal Court has handed down jail sentences to three clerics for their alleged participation in an illegal protest. Two of them, Fadhel Al Zaki and Mohammed Jawad, received two years in prison each, while their co-defendant, Majeed Al Meshal, was given one-year behind bars.
The trio were arrested after participating in the illegal demonstration in Duraz recently.
Several people were summoned to the police station for interrogation regarding their participation in the illegal protest in Duraz that broke out after infamous religious cleric Isa Qassim was stripped of his Bahraini nationality.
Qassim is now standing trial over accusations of money laundering and financing organisations in Iraq and Iran hostile to Bahrain.
