Mothers urged to apply for children's free health services
Manama : The Ministry of Health has urged Bahraini mothers to apply for special health cards to avail the free health services for their children, thanks to the royal decree issued by His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
“Children of Bahraini mothers are entitled to free medical services since the implementation of the Royal Decree issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa are being urged to apply for special health cards to continue to avail the services,” an official at ministry told Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
The Bahraini mothers with foreign spouses are benefiting from the free medical services in the Kingdom of Bahrain by using the health-cards system of the ministry, said Seema Al Zainal, Director of Health Centres at the Ministry of Health.
She said that the Ministry of Health has been providing free medical services to the children of Bahraini mothers since 2009, when HM the King issued a Royal Decree to offer free medical care, education and residence to them.
“These cards are issued at the health centres of the respective areas of residence,” said Al Zainal. “The parents must submit copies of their marriage certificate and smart cards, along with the birth certificate and smart card of the child to the administration of their health centre.”
Al Zainal said upon the submission of the applications, the health centre issues the card.
“This card gives direct access to the patient for their appointment in the health centres without any interruption or delays. The children of Bahraini mothers are also given free medication following the doctor consultation or any upon completion of other medical procedures.”
