Ramping up Asia ties stressed
Bangkok : Bahrain will host the first meeting of the Secretaries-General of all international, regional and sub-regional forums and organisations, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The Minister was attending a dinner hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Don Pramudwinai, in honour of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit.
Shaikh Khalid is a part of the delegation of Bahrain, headed by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in the second ACD summit being held from October 8 to 10 in Bangkok.
He stated that through this summit, Bahrain will develop a unified position that establishes the status provided by the international law.
The Minister stressed that adopting any unilateral legislation undermining this principle is a clear violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Shaikh Khalid also warned that the politicisation of law will create chaos, topple mutual trust between the countries, and adversely international peace and security.
The Foreign Minister also stressed on the importance of ramping up Asian cooperation by giving priority to the six pillars of cooperation agreed upon, in line with the agenda of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development 2030.
