Safe bicycle riding campaign launched
Manama : The General Directorate of Traffic has organised several traffic awareness campaigns on bicycle riding safety in cooperation with Batelco and Migrant Worker Protection Society recently.
The campaigns included distribution of awareness pamphlets and around 400 helmets to encourage motorcyclists to follow traffic rules and achieve the highest levels of traffic safety.
“In 2015, there were 80 bicycle-related accidents, nine fatal accidents, 33 accidents with serious injuries and 39 accidents with minor injuries,” said Director of Traffic Culture.
He called upon parents to encourage their children to follow traffic safety rules while riding their bicycles. These rules include fixing front and back lights and wearing light clothes.
