141 cabins at Al-Ghous Corniche razed

ManamaWork on developing the Al-Ghous Corniche in Muharraq is to start within the next few days, it was announced.

The move follows directives from Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to revamp the zone located between the Shaikh Isa bin Salman and Shaikh Hamad Causeway.

“The location will be transformed into a public zone which will include basic services, playing areas for children and other facilities,” said Muharraq Municipality Acting Director-General Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa while inspecting the Al-Ghous Corniche yesterday.

The municipal authorities have so far removed 141 cabins under the supervision of team from the Technical Services Directorate, in cooperation Muharraq Police Directorate, the Electricity and Water Authority and other relevant parties.

The makeshift cabins were removed as per the provisions of law 20 of 2006 on the protection of beaches, coasts and maritime zones, the Muharraq Municipality said in a statement.
