Flat burgled while family was away

ManamaBurglars reportedly broke into an apartment in Zinj late night yesterday, and made away 600 grams of gold and $3000 in cash.

According to reports, the robbery occurred in a flat on the second floor of a building near the Sudani Club opposite to the New Millenium School, Bahrain.

The flat belonged to Senthil Kumar who was away with his family when the incident occurred.

The burglars climbed up the scaffoldings used for maintenance and entered the flat easily through a window near the balcony. They then broke open the lockers, picked up the ornaments and left.

The family believes that the theft might have taken place at around 7pm as they left home at 6pm. When they returned by 11pm, they found the main door ajar. The unsuspecting family ignored this and was alerted only after entering the bedroom about 15 minutes later.

Clothes from the cupboard were strewn all over the floor. When they inspected the master bedroom, they found the lockers broken with its belongings missing.

The police arrived at the scene by 12:30am. The forensic department then mapped footprints of the suspects.

“Fortunately, the parents did not leave the children behind this time like they usually do. The burglars seem to be someone who knew the place in and around,” said Kaleel Sainul Abdeen, a friend of Senthil.

There were no security cameras installed anywhere and none of the neighbours reported hearing any noises from the flat. The police said it was the third robbery reported in the area recently.
